And now the action moves also into the towns -- where I'm sure the maoists will be encouraging everyone and their dog to set up labor unions and workplace committees, etc., in preparation for the real power which will flow directly out of the Constituent Assembly.

Besides that the urban masses now have made common cause with the rural masses -- deposing the feudal power structure, together -- the new republic will be all the better armed to deal with the inevitable counter-revolutionary 'war' of attrition, which will surely be arriving soon over the India-Nepal border.

And for that reason too, the CPN(M) did not march on Kathmandu as an alien, outside army, to impose its will on a passive urban mass. Now those rural forces have urban allies.
