This wins the award for best excuse for a late paper in years. Claiming agents from the Dept. of Homeland Security visited him after checking out an original Peking edition of Mao Zedong's Red Book, a student at UMASS Dartmouth came clean about the hoax when his professor visited the family. It sounded crazy, but not as crazy as this.
The kid who came up with the hoax, has anybody done any digging to se if he has Young Republican/Protester Warrior ties?
This sounds to me a bit like the classic Karl Rove style of disinformation. You put enough noise out in the dialog and the real examples of state repression (like the one cited above) get drowned out by all the static.
