Today, March 8, is International Women's Day. Take a Left blog found a good short history of the holiday. As we rise above the sexual caste system, that more than any single measure will show how far we've come, and what remains to be done. It is the tyranny we are all complicit in. International Women's Day isn't just a recognition of women's hard lot. It is a challenge to see the fraternity of all people and to pull the dead weight of tradition from our backs.
